The Florida-Caribbean
Cruise Association (FCCA) annual
conference and trade show is being
held in Grand Cayman this year from October 31 through November 3 at
the Westin Casuarina Resort. This is the largest conference to date to
take place in the Cayman Islands.
The Keep Dolphins Free in
the Cayman Islands group has reserved a booth and has stated, “The
objective of the booth is to provide education, information and
awareness of the facts surrounding the captive-dolphin tourist
entertainment industry, including Swim With The Dolphin programmes.
These shore-based attractions are widely sold by cruise lines to
their passengers in destinations that support this type of
attraction.
“While our local group is
dedicated to keeping dolphins free, the implications of the total
scope of this industry are definitely of great importance to the
wider Caribbean and, in fact, the International community. Some
other local
groups and foreign associations who share our position
that dolphins should remain free for a multitude of reasons will
join us in the booth.” Visit
booth #6 at the FCCA conference &
trade show in
Grand Cayman for further information and knowledge exchange.
Wednesday, September 20 is Worldwide Japan Dolphin Day
Join in the protest, at the nearest Japanese Embassy to you.
We are now 61 NGOs strong, protesting the worlds largest dolphin slaughter
at 32 Japanese embassies and consulate offices worldwide.
Our message will be heard loud and clear all the way to Tokyo:
STOP the
DOLPHIN SLAUGHTER!
I'll never forget the words of the young dolphin hunter in Taiji who said to
Helene and I: "You must stop taking pictures, If the world finds out about
this (dolphin slaughter) we will have to stop. Tokyo officials may not issue
another permit."
